This incense burner features a dragon motif on its three-legged base, with a lid adorned by a "shishi(lion)" holding a treasure ball. The shishi(lion) mentioned here, similar to the dragon, is a mythical creature said to be based on the Indian lion. In Japan, a shishi is typically found on the right side of a shrine entrance, distinguished by its lack of horns and open mouth. 
The treasure ball held by the shishi is believed to grant people's wishes.
Both the dragon and the shishi(lion) are considered to possess sacred powers.
